“Abstractions in general characterize the visual work. Even in nature, abstractions are a facet of reality: the pearly luster of some varieties of seashells, water vapor in light producing the illusions of the ‘rainbow’, the hues of dusk in red, magenta, purple and violet. All these phenomena are natural movements of the eje’s perceptive capability. This occurs in the real work and painting is able to create it, while also searching for shades that reflect that creative spirit. In Villarroel, movement is analogous to a sparkling flame”.
