Hello everyone, next Sunday Nov 3rd we will have the pleasure to host our first book discussion at the Socrates Cafe Brussels!
Serghei Sadohin, the author of Hiding in Plain Sight: What Language Says About Being Human (2024) will be joining us to talk about his recently published book. He’ll be sharing insights on how language reveals who we are and shapes our understanding of the world.
This time we will follow a different structure to the one we are used to:
- The first 45 mins will have Serghei speaking about his book, specifically about:
- The implications of what language means today in the age of information
- Language as the first technology
- The close relationship between language and our sense of self
- The remaining 45 mins will be dedicated to interactive Q&A and open discussion 🙂
If you would like to already have a glance at what the book is about, feel free to have a look at this article published on the Brussels Times by Serghei himself where he exposes his main ideas on the topic.
Join us for an engaging conversation where we’ll dive into the fascinating ways in which language influences our thoughts, identities, and experiences!
MEETING POINT
We will be meeting at the 2nd floor of The Sister’s Cafe (near Grand Place)
